JOIN THE COLORADO COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS TO WELCOME OUR HEROES HOME
Renaissance Veterans Apartments at Fitzsimons opens in November 2020 and will provide 60 units of permanent supportive housing to end veteran homelessness. The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is calling for help to create welcoming homes with donations of new or gently used furnishings and housewares.
Most of the soon-to-be residents have experienced long-term, chronic homelessness, so they own little or no home furnishings. Your company, church, or community group can help by gathering items for each one-bedroom, 350 sf ft apartment. See the next page for a list.
Sixty apartments are a lot to fill, but we can meet this need with a little help from a lot of people.
Here are ways to help:
- Gather donations of furnishings and gently used housewares. View our list.
- Visit our Amazon gift registry and purchase items that will be shipped directly to the Coalition.
- Donate gift cards for Amazon, Target, Walmart, or Bed Bath & Beyond. We will use these to purchase housewares.
- Donate any amount at ColoradoCoalition.org/donate and we’ll use your gift to purchase needed items.
In metro Denver, veterans represent 11.5% of the population experiencing homelessness. Renaissance Veteran Apartments, a collaborative project with the Colorado Department of Veterans Affairs and the US Department of Veterans Affairs, will provide permanent supportive housing for men and women who have served and now need our help to maintain long-term stability.
The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless works collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for families, children, and individuals who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness throughout Colorado.
We believe homelessness is solvable. Homes, health, and hope are the answer.
