June 6 – August 29 | 10:30 – 11:55 am
Jesus is a product of the Judaism of his time – so different from today. This video lecture series traces the origins of Judaism from the arrival of the Israelites in Canaan (1200 BC) to the rise of Rabbinic Judaism (2nd-3rd cnet. AD) focusing especially on the late Second Temple period leading to Jesus’s day, a time of turmoil. How were Jesus’s teachings and views shaped by his Jewish background and world.
Our lecturer is Dr. Jodi Magness known for her excellence in early Judaism and archeology in the Holy Land.
This will be a Zoom class featuring two lectures per class with time for discussion. Participants are welcome to attend one or all classes and attend either Sunday or Tuesday depending on your schedule.
