Jonah’s Afterlives in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
Mondays
March 8 – 22
6:30 – 8:00 pm
The book of Jonah, a story about an unorthodox prophet encountering God in unorthodox places. Most read this strange book and assume it’s teaching “you can’t run away from God,” but closer attention reveals weighty theological questions and multiple interpretations. This class enters the magical-realistic world of Jonah by exploring its afterlives in the traditions of Judaism, Christianity & Islam.
Dr Amy Erickson, associate professor of Hebrew Bible & the director of the Masters of Theological Studies at Iliff School of Theology.
