To determine what needs to be done to reopen the doors of St. Andrew, allow staff to return to a more regular schedule, groups to safely gather and all of us to worship together, a new committee, the St. Andrew Covid Response Team, has been formed. With our hearts firmly set on opening St. Andrew as soon as we have health safety practices and protocols in place to protect our staff, our members and the larger community, within which we are all interconnected, the Response Team is meeting weekly to define the prerequisites necessary to safely reopen.
Our eyes are focused on meeting and exceeding the required health safety standards disseminated by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, the Center for Disease Control and all regional agencies. The health and safety guidelines change weekly and we are moving as quickly as we can to ensure compliance and be ready to safely gather in the building this summer. From what doctors, scientists and epidemiologists know thus far, these initial gatherings will be for small groups, while opening the doors for large group, full sanctuary, weekend worship may still be some time away.
During this unprecedented time, St. Andrew’s mission and vision have not changed, however we do need to adjust our daily practices to keep everyone safe moving forward. As we have adapted to changes and experienced the loss of many beloved aspects of our lives, we’ve heeded the call for distancing and made sacrifices to help our families and larger circles weather this storm.
Our communities, our nation, and our world are being changed daily by this coronavirus pandemic, so too are the program possibilities for St. Andrew. Although we miss gathering in person, we’ve pivoted to provide online, streaming and Zoom meetings for the Daily 15, Evening Prayer and all weekend worship services including Evensong and Sunday mornings at 9:00 & 10:30am.
We strive to see the positives coming to life out of this pandemic. Metaphorically, if the life we knew before the pandemic has withered and gone away, we now focus on planting and nurturing the new life that is beginning to spring forth. How can we work together to become more focused and driven by our mission and vision? How can we continue to learn, worship and do community life better? What parts need to be trimmed or removed? Which branches of our beautiful tree grove of a community need to be invested in more deeply?
As we continue to work towards reopening, you will be able to find the latest updates on gostandrew.com. We will seek your feedback in surveys, and regular communications in the weeks ahead. An initial survey went out on Wednesday with Rev. Mark’s weekly vlog; if you have not yet taken it, please do so.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions on how best to keep St. Andrew thriving and growing in the future. Be well, St. Andrew Family, and take good care of each other.Take Survey
