Denver Gay Men’s Chorus • Motown & More

March 27 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus continues to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a return to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House to present Motown and More! From The Temptations to Lizzo, DGMC will celebrate a half-century of iconic African American pop music that has its roots in the distinctive sounds of the Motor City and now permeates every genre of popular music today.

In addition, Motown and More will feature the Colorado premiere of “The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed” by Joel Thompson. The last words of seven unarmed black men – including Micahel Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Eric Garner- each killed by police or authority figures, inspired the lyrics for this powerful piece. Aurora’s Rangeview High School Choir will join DGMC for this powerful multi-movement choral piece. DGMC was days away from performing Motown and More when the pandemic hit in 2020.
