This book study will delve into Michelle Alexander’s book “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.” It will look at racism in the United States, break down the issues surrounding mass incarceration, and explain how slavery and subsequential laws during the civil rights movement have led to a modern version of Jim Crow. Whether you’re just learning about racism in the United States or you’ve been passionate about it for years, this book study is the place for you. Questions and varying viewpoints encouraged and snacks included. We strongly encourage buying from a Black-owned bookstore, an independent bookstore or borrowing from the library.
