Service Opportunities

Founded in 2023 by St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO, the St. Andrew Market at the East Community Center focuses on building relationships, walking alongside, and caring for the community. We help to bridge the hunger gap and offer everyday household necessities in a free, safe, and low-barrier market where families can shop for supplemental food, diapers, and hygiene items. We need your help stocking our shelves!
We are asking people to shop for our most current donations needed, grocery gift cards, monetary donations (for volunteers to be able to shop for fresh items the day before), paper, and hygiene products. In addition to our normal grocery needs, in February, March, and April we collect cleaning supplies, trash bags, laundry detergent, and dish soaps.
We are looking for volunteers to shop for fresh items, transport donations from St. Andrew to the market, stock shelves, personal shoppers, and so much more! Please email us if you want to learn more and serve with us at the market.

Ongoing Service Opportunities
Just Care Backpacks
Having a backpack provides significant benefits for those experiencing homelessness. In addition to keeping their belongings safe, it is a means of carrying a majority of what they own with them. Just Care Backpacks are filled with nonperishable food items, socks, a reusable water bottle, first aid kits, sunscreen, etc. Don’t forget to grab one the next time you are at St. Andrew and take it with you to give to someone in need in our community.
Sunday Sack Lunch
Each Sunday we partner with AfterHours Denver to provide sack lunches for those who are unhoused in our city. Lunches are made each Sunday morning at St. Andrew and then taken downtown and handed out near Civic Center Park. Help is needed in making and distributing lunches. If you would like to be a part of this life-giving ministry, come and see us near the Outreach Depot at St. Andrew each Sunday morning or email for more details!
Safe Outdoor Space
The SOS project is a strategic step to provide safe and temporary housing. It is an opportunity to provide managed care, services, and compassion to those at the margins. One way St. Andrew helps is by providing fresh, ready-to-eat lunch or dinner to the 40 residents at the Safe Outdoor Space. For more information and to sign up, please email outreach@gostandrew.com
Joshua Station Spruce a Room Team
Joshua Station is a transformative 2-year program for families experiencing homelessness. When a family enters the program at Joshua Station, their home is on-site during this time. St. Andrew has a team led by Char Aubin and Louise Miller. Together with the help of others, they transform the space into a home specific to the family moving in. The team provides cleaning, painting, furnishings, and small repairs, and showers the space with special touches for the new family before their arrival. They make sure the family feels loved and at home as soon they open the door! If you are interested in joining this team, please email outreach@gostandrew.com
Joshua Station Community Dinner Team
Joshua Station is a transformative 2-year program for families experiencing homelessness. While families are at Joshua Station each Thursday evening they gather as a community for dinner. On various Thursday dates throughout the year St. Andrew organizes, cooks, and takes dinner to Joshua Station. These meals are served family style and it’s a wonderful time meeting new families, being in community with others, and sharing a meal together. If you are interested in being a part of these please email outreach@gostandrew.com
Outreach Partners
St. Andrew partners with a variety of organizations in various capacities. To get involved in these transformational serving opportunities, please email Outreach.
Joshua Station
St. Andrew assists Joshua Station with their Spruce A Room and Community Dinner programs. Spruce A Room involves transforming a room into a home for a family participating in the Joshua Station Transformational Housing Program. Turning an ordinary hotel room into a home for a family is so special; making it a cozy and peaceful space for them by thinking through who the family is. Community Dinner involves preparing, serving, and eating a meal with the families living at Joshua Station.
AfterHours
Doing church in a bar. Feeding people. The mission of AfterHours Denver is to put more love into the world by providing necessities for people who need them, especially the homeless, and by creating places where all are welcome. Each Monday, we meet for service and make 100 PB&J sack lunches to be handed out the next day to those who are unsheltered. Feeding people is our call to worship.
Colorado Coalition for the Homeless
The Mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for families, children, and individuals who are experiencing or are at-risk of homelessness throughout Colorado.
Urban Peak
The Urban Peak facility located at 1630 South Acoma is temporarily closed. This location is getting a new building! Our volunteering with Urban Peak has been suspended until their new facility opens. One of the ways you can help and stay involved is to shop their Amazon Wishlist. We can’t wait to resume serving with Urban Peak!
Big Serve
What is Big Serve? It’s About Loving Others.
St. Andrew believes there is immense value when we practice loving and serving others. That’s why, every year, we gather as a community on the first Saturday in May for the Big Serve, our Annual Day of Service. We show our love and dedication to others as we partner with various agencies to work on important projects throughout the Denver Metro Area. Our 2025 Big Serve was our 10th Anniversary of this tradition at St. Andrew, with over 650 volunteers of all ages. Mark your calendar and join us on Saturday, May 2, 2026 for our 11th annual Big Serve!
